Wednesdays social evening went ahead despite the cold weather, the first frost scrape off the car windscreen. It had its shaky start but seven of us met at the Royal Oak, Woodchester at about 19:30. There were two well kept Uley beers, a cider for George and all served with a lovely smile from the bar staff. A big fire in the grate kicking out warmth throughout the bar.
After more scraping we moved on to the Bowbridge Arms. Unfortunately they had their quiz and not wanting to interrupt we decided to go onto the Ship Inn, Brimscombe. Sorry to anyone that was thinking of joining us there.
Again we were met by a welcoming face behind the bar and a warm room to sit in. There were three well kept beers to choose from and a lovely open fire in the grate.
The landlord came over and chatted with us, so maybe the rule, no CAMRA business, was possible compromised. However a very interesting chat.
