Take the number 67 Stagecoach bus from Stroud, which leaves Merrywalks every 30 minutes, to Brimscombe Corner. Cross over the road and take the turning to Brimscombe Hill. Just up this road you will reach your first stop, the Ship Inn, on your right.
After leaving the pub proceed along the road past the Cotswold Canals bookshop (not up the hill) to reach the canal towpath. Follow this along until you reach your next stop Stroud Brewery. The brewery can be accessed directly from the towpath
When you have enjoyed your pause here proceed along the canal path for approximately 1 mile, leaving the canal at Bowbridge Lock and bridge. Go up the metal flight of steps and cross the road.
Turn right towards the traffic lights and your next stop is on the corner, the Bowbridge Arms.
Retrace your steps back down the hill and after you have crossed the bridge over the canal take the small turning on the left and almost immediately go up the steps by the poetry shed and cross over the train line. Go up the footpath until you meet the road then cross over and up another track. This is a steep climb. At the top you reach Butterow/Rodborough Lane. Turn right and go along the road and taking the right hand option when the road forks. After just over half a mile on this road you will reach the Prince Albert.
After you have taken refreshment proceed down the hill by the front of the pub and you will reach the Clothiers Arms via their car park. Here you can get a nice meal as well as a beer if you so desire.
Walk downhill along the main A46 which will take you back into Stroud town centre and the bus stops.
