The Stroud branch of Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) awarded The Carpenters Arms at Westrip their Cider Pub of the Year for 2023 taking the crown from the Crown – Minchinhampton but not only that they have now become the Gloucestershire Cider Pub of the Year

For the first time one of our local winners has taken the Gloucestershire Branch crown.
The Carpenters Arms, Westrip was judged best Cider Pub of the year for Gloucestershire, beating off very strong competition from the Salutation Inn – Ham, the Pelican Inn – Gloucester & the Doghouse – Coleford.

Stroud CAMRA congratulates Sammi McKie and her team for creating a hostelry which is such a compelling haven for cider and the people that enjoy it
When we informed Sammi McKie, licensee of her win she responded:
“Here at the Carpenters Arms, we are delighted to sell local real ciders. Our love of local ciders has not been dampened by the harsh landscape of owning a small village pub. We can’t wait for the summer of 2023 and being judged for South-West Cider pub of the year.
Since buying the pub in late 2019, a few months before the Covid lockdown, we have not been disheartened and have loved buying Gloucestershire real cider and encouraging local people to support local free house pubs.”

The Carpenters Arms now goes on the compete in the next round of the competition against other pubs in the South West of England.
Please join us in wishing Sammie and her team all the best on Sunday 13th May at 17-00
P.S. other drinks are available in this wonderful Cotswold stone pub, including 2 or 3 well served real ales.

Congratulations to Sammi (Samantha Mckie) and her team at the Carpenters Arms and to think- a few years back this pub was nearly closed, knocked down and redeveloped for housing.
