
Established in 2020 as a new small batch, big love beer project by Richard Taylor. They aim to create distinct, hoppy ales, inspired by the Stroud valleys and the places where we drink them.
All their beer is low intervention and only contains the four traditional ingredients of Water, Barley, Hops and Yeast. They don’t clarify their beer with fish derived finings so their beer has a light natural haze. This also means they are vegan friendly

Stroud Success at Tewkesbury Winter Ales Festival (TWAF) 2025

An unexpected pleasant surprise for the Stroud area after dominance by Inferno Brewery, Tewkesbury in recent years.
The TWAF Gloucestershire Winter Beer of the Festival was awarded, after a blind tasting, to the 4th Year Anniversary Porter from our very own The Fresh Standard.

1st The Fresh Standard Brew Co, Stroud – Anniversary Porter 8.0%
2nd Corinium Ales, Cirencester – Imperial Porter 8.5%
3rd Ashton Brewery, Cheltenham – Jaffa Cake 6.2%

Anniversary Porter – Porter 8%
Brewed to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of the brewery’s opening, flavours of chocolate, coffee and toffee on the palace, with a rich and roasty flavour.

2024 Oak Aged Red – Red 7.5%

This is a Flanders-style soured red ale, meticulously blended from batches aged in oak barrels for up to 16 months. It’s a beautifully balanced beer with flavours that dance between tartness and sweetness.

2024 Export & Barrel Aged Porter

Brewed to celebrate our 4th Anniversary. Flavours of chocolate, coffee and toffee, with a rich roasty finish.

Last year, we tucked away half of the 2023 anniversary porter into a massive whisky barrel. After 11 months of aging, it’s emerged as a robust, full-bodied masterpiece with notes of dark chocolate, dried fruit, and coffee. A true treat!
